FAQ
The following are answers to common questions users might come across.
General
How many meetings are possible simultaneously with one API key?
A single API key supports up to 25 concurrent meetings. If you require a higher limit, please contact us.
How many participants can join a meeting?
Each meeting can accommodate up to 10 media sources, such as webcams or live drone feeds, and up to 100 participants for voice communication.
What are the standard Eyeson resolutions and when should I use them?
standard (4:3 aspect ratio): 1280 × 960 px
- Suitable for document sharing or other vertical content
- Cost efficient, as you pay the same server cost but get more pixels
widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio): 1280 × 720 px
- Ideal for modern displays
- Optimized for streaming platforms
If you require a higher ressolutions or custom settings, please contact us.
What is the standard video codec?
Eyeson uses VP9 as the default video codec. To ensure broad device compatibility, VP8 is supported as a fallback option for older or less capable devices. And in some cases AV1 is also used.
What is the consumed bandwidth?
The typical downlink bandwidth is approximately 1.5 Mbps for the entire meeting. For some projects the required bandwidth can be significantly lower, like in this case.
The Smart Bandwidth Feature will measure network and endpoint parameters and deliver the best possible quality to the endpoint user. It will switch between specific video and audio settings, which you can find in the table below.
| Quality | Bitrate Range | Codec | Resolution | Bitrate | Framerate |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Low | < 400 kbps | AV1 | 720p | 175 kbps | 10 fps |
| VP9 | 720p | 200 kbps | 6 fps | ||
| VP8 | 720p | 400 kbps | 25 fps | ||
| Medium | 400 - 700 kbps | AV1 | 720p | 500 kbps | 14 fps |
| VP9 | 720p | 500 kbps | 12 fps | ||
| VP8 | 720p | 800 kbps | 25 fps | ||
| High | > 700 kbps | AV1 | 720p | 1500 kbps | 25 fps |
| VP9 | 720p | 1500 kbps | 25 fps | ||
| VP8 | 720p | 1500 kbps | 25 fps |
Audio
| Quality | Bitrate Range | Codec | Bitrate | Stereo |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Low | < 50 kbps | OPUS | 32 kbps | no |
| High | >= 50 kbps | OPUS | 64 kbps | yes |
How secure is Eyeson?
Eyeson is built on rock-solid encryption technologies. All connections on our websites, services, and apps are SSL/TLS encrypted (transport layer security) or, in case of audio/video streams, protected by DTLS/SRTP (secure real-time protocol).
MCU
What are the advantges of using an MCU?
You can merge various video sources and data into a single video stream. This ensures that all participants see the same content simultaneously, providing a consistent and synchronized meeting experience for everyone.
Why is the CPU usage of Eyeson so low?
Eyeson offloads all video and audio processing to dedicated cloud servers. Unlike other video call solutions that use SFU, where each participant’s device must decode multiple streams simultaneously, Eyeson delivers a single merged stream to every participant. This approach keeps CPU usage low on local devices while ensuring consistent, high-quality audio and video for everyone.
How does MCU perform under high network jitter?
Unlike SFU, where network jitter can impact each participant’s decoding of multiple incoming streams, an MCU mixes all streams on a central server. This server-side processing delivers a more stable and reliable experience for all participants.
Eyeson Cloud
Where are the video servers based?
All our video servers are based within the EU. If you require a custom solution, please contact us.
Why is Eyeson's infrastructure AI-ready?
Eyeson is designed to integrate seamlessly with AI systems:
- Flexible deployment: Eyeson can run on cloud servers or be embedded at the edge.
- AI integration: All incoming video and audio sources can be forwarded to an AI cloud server for processing.
- Enhanced content: Eyeson can receive AI-processed streams and adjust content accordingly, such as highlighting specific video feeds or displaying overlays based on AI analysis.
